Better visual merchandising improves call to action:

Quality images of your products are proven ways of increasing your conversion rate on your website. If you don’t use images to display your products you may want to reconsider after reading this report:

Recent research has indicated that product images are a major factor in increasing the conversion rate on your website. This could also be applicable to catalogues and brochures.  In fact, 83% of eBay shoppers skip listings without images, while sites with galleries get 15% more activity and those that utilise extra large size photos show a further 24% spike in sales. (Excerpt from an article in 'Future Now')

Most visitors have many hours of offline shopping experience where their sensors have been a major influence in their decision to purchase. They can hold, touch, smell and feel products before making that final decision to buy, so it is quite puzzling why some companies do very little to try to recreate the visual aspect of offline purchasing. Many skimp on the quality of their product images by using the manufacturer’s supplied images. Does this do justice to the product that you’re trying to sell?

A visual representation of your products is an essential part of any marketing strategy of a successful business, however, a great visual representation of your product is a reflection of your professionalism. A photograph of your product in particular, can not only supplement your descriptive text, but in many cases can almost replace it.
